Our food server, Alex ruined the entire meal and evening for us. We had come there eight years ago, and I had the best oysters and had in my entire life. I ate the whole sampler platter all by myself fast-forward to the other night ordered the same thing the server was so lackadaisical about bringing her food as soon as it's cooked is why it was spoiled. He came over to the table and said that the oysters were burnt, but I can have the gumbo at no charge, so I ate the gumbo and he comes over and says it was the wrong table. There's nothing wrong with my Oysters, but you can still have the free gumbo. Then he brought our food over and mine had been sitting after it had been cooked fresh I assume, that it had gelled up and lost its flavor and by the way, my gumball wasn't even hot. Then we wanted it to go box for our extra deep-fried pickles. It took him 10 minutes to get one it was just lousy. I'm sure there was nothing wrong with the restaurant, but the server was crap. He wasn't even worth the one dollar tip I gave him.

Great seafood. Casual dress. Popular neighborhood eating spot.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Dauphin’s today. I’ve dined at Dauphin’s once before, a few years ago, and decided to give it another try today by ordering the shrimp and grits for lunch while at work. When I opened the bowl at my office, I was honestly shocked by the appearance of the food. The grits looked excessively thin and soupy, with a muddy, uneven consistency. The sauce appeared separated, the overall color was unappealing, and the shrimp, sausage, and other ingredients were sitting in what looked more like a watery mixture than a well-prepared bowl of shrimp and grits. I understand that shrimp and grits can be prepared differently, and I’m not expecting every restaurant to make the dish the same way. However, what I received did not look appetizing, and I had legitimate concerns about whether it was prepared and presented as intended. I called shortly after opening the bowl and even offered to provide photos. I asked whether the dish was supposed to look that way. The gentleman who answered explained that he had just arrived and couldn’t offer much help. While I understand that he may not have been familiar with the situation, I was left without an answer or a resolution. Dauphin’s, I would appreciate someone addressing this experience. I spent my money expecting a quality meal, and I don’t feel that what I received met the standard I anticipated from your establishment. I’m requesting a resolution, whether that means a refund or another appropriate way to make this right. I have photos documenting the condition of the food and would be happy to provide them directly. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds to a customer’s concerns matters just as much as the initial experience. I hope someone from management will reach out and address this. I wanted to enjoy my lunch today. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed, with a meal I couldn’t feel good about eating and a customer service experience that left my concerns unresolved.

Update: my daughter became very sick after digesting her meal. It was a long night! She believed the ink made her sick as that's what she was mostly regurgitating. We enjoyed a nice dinner tonight at Squid Ink with friends. The atmosphere is pretty good. A little loud, but to be expected in a smaller place. The food was very good. This restaurant boasts they put food in their food which I entirely appreciate in a world of fake meat and chemical additives. I ordered a queen victoria drink, this was supposed to be Absolut Peach vodka, mint, cucumber, agave syrup, ginger ale, orange peel. What i got was something that tasted more like a margarita meets mojito. I was disappointed to have not gotten the drink I ordered. We ordered shrimp scampi (very lemony but tasty) calamari rings and mobtown bao. The portions were generous and everything tasted great. Still just disappointed about my drink so I didn't get a photo of it

**Disappointing, to say the least** We came to town to celebrate our daughter's birthday. She recently moved here for graduate school and picked this restaurant for its downtown atmosphere. We arrived on a Saturday around 6:35 and were quoted a 45-minute wait, which was no problem. We were seated in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. Our drinks took so long that our appetizer arrived before they did. When we ordered entrées, I was told the chicken pasta was unavailable because the kitchen had run out of sauce. I didn't want a burger or seafood, so I tried ordering the paella fritters as my meal instead. They were out of those too. At that point I decided not to try for a third option. So I sat there while my wife had her tuna poke bowl and my daughter had the shrimp scampi. The scampi was far too lemony and the shrimp were overcooked, which was a real letdown since shrimp scampi is one of her favorite meals. Our server checked on us when the food arrived but never offered refills. She didn't come back until the ladies had finished eating, and even then there was no offer of refills, just the check. I can't recommend this place. My daughter is taking it off her list of places to eat in the area and will be telling her friends the same. It's a shame, because the restaurant has real potential, and the downtown area does have some neat spots. (By the way management never stopped by when I asked the server at the beginning of all this where is the manager. Plus you’d think they would stop at the tables to check on things regardless.)

The burger missed the mark a little as it was well quite done. The fries and chili were good and I’d go again but I’d opt for a chicken sandwich.

Good food, great service in a dive bar atmosphere. I had the grilled fish, wife had the baked shrimp and pasta, both were very good and the prices were very reasonable for what they serve.

The food *was good enough* - barely - for the price point. I figured support small, regional, local-ish business even though you know you’re paying for the downtown overhead more than the food and employees. Thanks for showing us your side, makes it easier!

Ok, step it up. I like you all but haven't been in a bit. I ordered to go. My BBQ sandwich did not come with any BBQ sauce. Booooo! The sweet potato whatever was institutional grade, it had cornflakes in it. What? I really do like you guys but care a little more.

Interesting menu items and great presentation. However the food was mhee. The burger patties were cheap meat that had tons of filler. They tasted like meat loaf. The waitress didn't refill our glasses once and this is a small place. We had a burger that had sausage on it. The sausage was under cooked and actually cold. Obviously it was spit out. Nobody in the restaurant cared. The waitress smelled as well. Overall a bad yet weird experience

The food was good, but the bartender who served me made the experience. I did national level contest bbq for 12 years and owned a catering business for 10 so I like to think I’m a good judge of food. The ONLY thing I would change about the roast beef Po Boy is that I would let my beef hold in a bit thicker gravy. The added liquid viscosity will help it stick to the meat and the beef won’t seem a touch dry. I’d go back, but I’d try something different. Great downtown and I can’t praise the staff enough! Maybe the boudin balls next time…?
